Sydney Dance Company’s international tour coming to the U.S.

Sydney Dance Company recently announced that it will be taking the production of Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela's 2 One Another on an extensive overseas tour, performing 13 shows in six countries across three continents in September and October of this year. The renowned Australian contemporary dance company will visit Irvine and San Diego, California, as well as the White Bird Dance House in Portland, Oregon.

Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival calls for submissions

Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival is looking for dance works less than 10 minutes in length for performances on October 11-12 in Texas. The festival, hosted and led by Texas-based modern dance company Brazos Dance Collective, is an ongoing project that presents new dance works. Submissions must be postmarked by Friday, July 12.

Ballet Across America returns to Kennedy Center in June

Returning after successful runs in 2008 and 2010, the Kennedy Center's Ballet Across America series continues to showcase the extraordinary breadth and depth of American ballet through three mixed repertory programs. On June 4-9, audiences can celebrate Dance Theatre of Harlem's triumphant return to the stage, witness the Kennedy Center debut of Richmond Ballet, the Center premieres of multiple repertoire pieces and delight in Sir Frederick Ashton's rarely seen Les Patineurs. Ballet West unveils 50th Anniversary season

Utah-based Ballet West will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an extraordinary year of first-time productions and long-time favorites. The company’s 2013-2014 season includes six exciting world premieres, a Utah premiere, a major revival, and outstanding productions that honor Ballet West’s rich legacy. Highlights will include a revival of Willam Christensen’s colorful and dramatic The Firebird in November, Adam Sklute’s spellbinding production of The Sleeping Beauty in time for Valentine’s Day, and Resident Choreographer Nicolo Fonte’s world premiere The Rite of Spring. Thodos Dance Chicago offers two Summer Intensives

Contemporary dance company Thodos Dance Chicago is offering two 2013 Summer Intensives for intermediate, advanced and pre-professional dancers, one in late June and the other in early August. Ballet, modern and contemporary technique will be taught, along with composition and improvisation, repertory, and body health and wellness. SAB’s Workshop Performance Benefit

The School of American Ballet will hold the Workshop Performance Benefit 2013 on Tuesday, June 4 honoring Peter Martins' and Kay Mazzo's 30th Anniversary at SAB. The Workshop Performance Benefit 2013 is the school’s most anticipated event of the year. The annual Workshop Performances are SAB's only public performances and a rare opportunity to get a sneak preview of the ballet world's up and coming young stars. Mr. Martins and Ms. Mazzo will also be presented with the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Service in recognition of their exceptional guidance and leadership over the past three decades. The Wooden Floor to premiere three works

The Wooden Floor presents its 30th Annual Concert, Sunrise, from Thursday, May 30 through Saturday, June 1 at Irvine Barclay Theatre, just south of Los Angeles, CA. The Wooden Floor, a nationally-renowned arts-for-youth organization in Santa Ana, hosts a powerful collaboration between internationally-recognized choreographers and  under-served local youth, yielding work that is original, inventive and spectacular. Dance for Change to help end water crisis

Dance for Change, an organization that gives dancers a platform to help people around the world, is currently working with the nonprofit charity: water. The goal is to raise $5,000 that will provide access to clean drinking water in Africa. Thus far, over $1,000 has been raised, which provides more than 50 people clean drinking water. Aerial dance festival in France this July

The 5th Aerial Dance Encounters, titled “Les Rencontres de Danse Aérienne,” will take place July 1-12, 2013 at the MJC of La Baule and at the Atlantique gymnasium of Le Pouliguen in France. An international aerial dance festival, Aerial Dance Encounters is an educational and artistic event that takes place every year during the first two weeks of July. Offered to beginners and professionals alike, it hosts intensive classes as well as shows and cultural events. Classes for this year include hammock, hoop and wall dance, stretching, aerial warm-up combinations and aerial yoga. 2013 Tony Awards

Nominations in 26 competitive categories for The 67th Annual Tony Awards have been announced. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 24 theater professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee. The productions that received the most Tony nominations are Kinky Boots with 13, Matilda The Musical with 12, Pippin with 10 and closely behind, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella with 9 and Golden Boy with 8. Choreographers Andy Blankenbuehler, Peter Darling, Jerry Mitchell and Chet Walker were nominated for the Best Choreography award. The 2013 Tony Awards will be held on Sunday June 9.
