Scottish Dance Theatre travels to Asia

The Scottish Dance Theatre is embarking on an extensive tour to India and China this fall.

As Scotland’s national contemporary dance company, the ensemble will present performances from September to November, first traveling to five Indian cities to lead workshops and perform as part of Impulse, a dance program that aims to foster creative exchanges between India and the United Kingdom.

The company will present a triple bill showcasing works by Ruth Janssen, Henri Oguike and Jo Strømgren.

Blink Dance Theatre presents “Written on the Body”

Blink Dance Theatre, an independent Australian company, will present its latest work Written on the Body on September 19, 20 and 25-27 at Shenton Theatre in East Geelong, Victoria.

Inspired by the life of iconic writer Anais Nin, this visceral new dance theatre work will survey the notion of female identity and the power of literature to affect our lives.

With creative stagecraft, innovative video projection and beautiful physicality, Written on the Body is a “a love affair with the written word.”

Dance Theatre of Harlem embarks on tour

The historic 17-member Dance Theatre of Harlem will set out on a tour to cities across the U.S. in October.

Starting in Richmond, Virginia, the company will visit Washington D.C., Tempe, Baton Rouge, Louisville, St. Louis, East Lansing and Chicago.

Dance Theatre of Harlem will present repertoire comprised of company classics, as well as cutting-edge new works.

Capezio featured on Meredith Vieira Show

The Meredith Vieira Show will premiere on Monday, September 8. The talk show, hosted by Emmy-winning television journalist Meredith Vieira and produced by NBC, is bound to be popular with Vieira’s large fan base.

Paris Opera Ballet shows contemporary side

Beginning in October, the world-renowned Paris Opera Ballet will present the full-length contemporary dance work Rain.

After originally presenting the work in 2011, the classically-trained ballet company will now bring it back to the Palais Garnier from October 21 to November 7.

The work, which is choreographed by Belgian dancemaker Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, is one of rare intensity and refined purity. Set to music by Steve Reich, Rain uses mathematical patterns to reveal an emotional layering.

The live performance on October 31 will be simulcast for viewers worldwide to watch online.
